Week 37

Another good week in Dublin! Elder Elton also had another good week in Edinburgh in our old area. Allison, who both Elder Elton and I taught, was baptized on Saturday. I am sending the picture of her baptisim. Such good news!

Last p day we were able to go and have a slip-n-slide volleyball game. It was so much fun!

Tuesday we had our District Meeting. We had to say our goodbye’s to a lot of the other missionaries that we will not see again. They are going home this transfer. Seriously, this transfer was huge! So many missionaries are going home. It has been so crazy!

Wednesday we were able to get out and teach. A lot of our people are open to what we have to say but they are not quite ready to make those necessary changes in their life that are needed. It is really hard to get them to commit to do anything!

Thursday was another good day. We were able to meet again with our friend Hari. In fact almost everyday this entire week we have met with him to get him ready for his baptism. He is such a good man. He is so prepared. I really am so excited to see where he goes now in this life!

Friday was our last day with Elder Clay. It is sad to see him go. I also had to go and get my ‘Garda Card’ to make it legal for me to stay here in Ireland. It took like forever! 3 hours. So dumb....

Saturday was Hari’s baptism! It was such a good service! It was such a great experience. There is always an awesome felling at baptisms! I cant really explain the love you feel and the love you feel for your friends who are making these sacred covenants with our Heavenly Father.

We also had our ‘official’ moves on Saturday. Elder Valiati and I will stay in Dublin. We really did get our move call two weeks ago. I have new missionaries in my district. I now have the opportunity to get to know them and work with them!

Two weeks ago I gave a talk in church. Yesterday, Sunday, I got a call in the morning from the Bishop. The call was 1 hour before church started. He asked me to speak that day in church for 20 minutes. The person who was assigned to speak called in sick. It was a crazy day. I had to prepare a talk along with making sure everything was ready for Hari’s confirmation. I relied so much upon the Spirit and for His help. In the end Hari’s confirmation was very special and everything worked out. I guess I should plan on every two weeks giving a talk in church.

We see so many miracles every week. But we also see so many disappointments. All of our investigators have dropped us. So we will find more people that are prepared to hear us and we will prepare them for baptism! WE WILL DO THIS TILL THE WORK IS DONE!

I am so excited to be able to continue to train and work with 'Mano'. 'Mano' means ‘brother’ in Portuguese. We are already like best friends! I want to baptize so many people with him! This has been a great transfer!

I love you all!

Week 36

This week was a good week

All missionaries got together last p-day and played sport at the park.

On Tuesday we had a really good district meeting again. We had a lot of time to find people and ended up having a successful day. I also went with the ZL's to teach a lesson to an individual named Hari. Hari is from Nepal. He is such a prepared soul! He lives on the south side of Dublin, which is our area, but he was initially found on the north side. Since he lives in our area we will be the ones that continue to teach him. The lesson we taught him was a very spiritual lesson! We committed him for baptism this Saturday and he accepted.

This past week we also had another full day of exchanges with the ZL's. I had a super good day with Elder McCappin! He also goes home soon. He is such an animal!

Saturday we had another great lesson with Hari. We taught him about the commandments! He loved it all!

Sunday was a great church service. We took Hari to church and I found myself running around making sure everything was ready for his upcoming baptism. I needed to make sure that the Bishop could meet and talk with him. It is always important that the Bishop meets and gets to know his newest converts and that he feels comfortable with the baptism. It all worked out and everyone is on board for this Saturday. We are having another baptism! It will be so good!

We also had another awesome lesson this past week with a lady from Nigeria. She has a 11 year old son. The son is so sincere. I hope her desire to continue to learn stays. She is so cool! During the lesson we had some guy, who we guess is Catholic, yelling at us. He was trying to scare her away from us. I stared him down and then he ended up leaving. What a great week.

We are looking to have another amazing week and have the faith to see much success.

I love you all!

Week 35

This past week was crazy! First bit of news, Elder Elton baptized Shu Ting from our past companionship in Edinburgh! She is doing so good! The blessings just keep coming.

Last Monday, P-day. We went to a beautiful place outside Dublin called Glendalough. (glen-da-lock). It was incredible. It was so pretty. I have sent some pictures.

Tuesday we had our district meeting. I felt it went really good. After that I went on exchanges with Elder McMillan who is one of the Elders in my district.

Now the crazy part of the week. Wednesday I got an early morning call from the AP's. They called informing me that there was going to be an early transfer before the normal transfers in two weeks. They told me that I had to get on a flight Thursday and come back to Edinburgh. They told me once I arrived I was to come to the mission home to pick up my new companion.

Thursday I left in the morning for Scotland. I flew back to Edinburgh all by myself! Weird. Once in Edinburgh I was able to chill for a while with some of my olds comps Elder Elton, Elder Tullis, and Elder Keim! I also was blessed to see one of our recent converts, Sophie. She is doing so good! It was so amazing to see her and to see all of my old friends again!

Friday I had meetings all day and then finally I got to go to the airport and pick up my new companion. My new companions name is Elder Valiati. He is from Brazil. He flew here from the Provo MTC. He speaks Portuguese but has been called to speak in the English language. He speaks very little English. He will also be the first ever Brazilian called to serve in the Scotland Ireland mission. So I will be training! I am so pumped! It will be a wild journey but we will do so good!

While we were in Edinburgh I was able to take Elder Vaiati and climb Pratt's Hill. We did all the cool stuff while we were in Edinburgh. We finished that day by spending the night in the mission home!

Saturday we took the bus in Edinburgh to the Ferry and then headed back to Ireland. That took all day.

Sunday was Mothers day. We went to the Ludlow's home where I was able to Skype home and see my amazing family again! I got to talk to my ever more amazing mum! I love them all. =)

I can't say enough how excited I am to train! We will be in a trio for these next two weeks until Elder Clay heads home from his mission.

I am so pumped!

Week 34

What a good week!

So many good things have happened this past week. It is also getting harder and harder for me to remember all of the good things! I will try my best.

Last Monday we went and played sport again at Phoenix Park. We had a grand time. It was good craic.

We had our 'All Ireland Conference' this past week. All of the missionaries in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland got together for a one day conference! I saw so many of my old friends. I saw my Dad, Elder Yang. He gave his departing testimony at the conference before he goes home... It is so sad to see him leave the mission. He is a such a good guy and a great missionary!

We had interviews with President Donaldson. This is always a special time for me. President and Sister Donaldson are very special people to me. They have become some of my most favorite people. I miss seeing them as much as I did when I was serving in the Burg!

I was able to perform my first baptismal interview. The interview was with an investigator from the other team in my district. He was baptized this past Saturday. Such a good day. He is a really good man!

On Sunday we went street boarding with the sisters in our district. We had a really fun time. And it was such a nice day! I need to get some short sleeved shirts! It is so hot outside now! hahaha!

This morning for our P-day we hiked a little mountain for our morning exercise. Then we did our personal study in Bray. We had such a good time!

I love you all!

Week 33

This week was good! We have a lot to talk about! Time is short and I may not have time to get to it all.

This past Wednesday Michael was baptized! He was the investigator that Elder Elton and I were teaching back in Edinburgh. Such great news! I heard it was a really nice baptismal service. I was told that the Spirit was strong and Michael had tears of joy. What good news for me to hear! I was also sad that I could not be there in attendance. For more good news... I was able to be in attendance and witness one of our two investigators enter the waters of baptism!

Saturday Hedy (Zhang Zhen) was baptized! She was and is such a prepared soul! It was such a great service! The Bishopric was unable to come so I presided and conducted the service. I also gave a talk. I felt it went well. Hedy loved her baptism! On Sunday I was able to confirm her! Oddly, it was the first time I had the opportunity to confirm someone. After the confirmation Hedy got up out of her chair and with tears in her eyes said; “I can feel God”. Oh how I love this work!

We have one more investigator prepared for another upcoming baptism. Shu Ting will be getting baptized on the 10th of May. Many more blessings!

One more incredible and crazy story. I was at the Finglas chapel on the North side of Dublin. And who do I run into? Warren Ferguson from Rochdale! I think he was in Ireland for a wedding. How crazy is that! I was so good to see him again.

For fun this past week I was able to go inside Trinity College. It was super old and super cool! We also fed some pigeons at a park. I think they liked me because they were all over me! hahaha… And check out the pub I ran into. ‘McGowans’!

I  love you all!
